Watercolour is the latest in a series of singles from the south London band Margot. Whereas previous singles have touched more on the human condition, Watercolour finds the band looking outward, recognising their changing city, sped up or slowed down by recent lockdowns. An observation on the characters we see; the kind, the selfish, the inspirational, the disgraceful. In the same way acts such as The Jam, Stereolab and Silver Jews were able to convey complex social observations within a sound that suggested “everything is ok”, Margot succeed in matching the heavy with the light once more with Watercolour.
