Today Margot share new single Wait For You. The London based outfit will also perform the Sebright Arms for their upcoming London headline show on Nov 10th Wait For You is the latest in a series of singles from the south London band Margot. The single exudes a serene melancholia, full of fragility, yearning and by the end: comfort in hope. With an EP to follow next year, Margot are building a name for themselves at press and radio as one of the most accomplished new bands around. As well as the headline Sebright Arms show they will perform at Mutations Festival in Brighton on Friday November 5th. Tickets here.

On the single, Margot say: 'I wrote the words for ‘Wait For You’ quite a few years ago. I was away in America for a year, and I was feeling homesick, lonely and frustrated. Couldn’t ever really settle. It was difficult not being with the one person who could bring me comfort, give me a hug, and tell me to get on with it and stop feeling sorry for myself.

There were a lot of times I’d be on my own, sitting, walking, working, reading. I’d close my eyes in the sun and listen to the hum of the world and see images/hallucinations. I suppose this sort of meditation made me feel closer to the person and place I was far away from. Writing the song was also a source of comfort, a way to turn the loneliness into something creative and comforting
"

The video, directed by the band themselves, focuses on tranquillity and the solitude one can find even in a busy urban environment. The band saying "The video was shot around Peckham and also around Kings Cross near where we record. The idea for the video came from thinking about the theme of isolation and waiting for someone you love to return, taken from the lyrics of the song - 'In the sunshine, I wait for you there.' Alex is seen floating alone on a pedalo, riding an empty tube, in a park with a football game behind him: situations where the environment and lack of company highlight his solitude. There is also an element of tongue-in-cheek with the long zooms and chicken shop dinner date for one. London can be a lonely city to exist in and the video also plays on this reality."
