Smoke Fairies

Blamire and Davies met at school in Sussex…   From school they have travelled and discovered as friends with a strong bond in music, they have lived in New Orleans, where they absorbed American blues music,  England and even lived in Vancouver, Canada, where they honed their sound and influences down for a year before returning to London to start performing. On returning to their homeland the Smoke Fairies toured the UK opening for Roxy Music’s legend Bryan Ferry and soon recorded and released a debut 7″ single, “Living with Ghosts”. Singer/songwriter Richard Hawley was also an early supporter of the act, saying they were “frankly the best thing I have heard in years”. They then supported Hawley on his True Love’s Gutter Tour in 2009 and in the same year Smoke Fairies became the first UK act to release a 7″ single on Jack White’s label Third Man Records label. The single was produced by Jack himself in Nashville and he also played some guitar and drums on the recordings. With the USA in their blood again Smoke Fairies performed at South by South West in 2010 in Austin, Texas and they went on to support Laura Marling on a month-long tour of the United States. They signed to V2/Cooperative Music and released their debut album Through Low Light and Trees in September 2010, the album recorded in deepest Devon with Head in the producer role, it was released In November 2010 to a very warm welcome by the public and media alike and was followed by a year of touring the UK, Europe and the States as a headline act during 2011. In Xmas 2011 they returned to the studio, this time in London, to record their second album for V2, Blood Speaks, this was released on 21 May 2012 to even wider critical acclaim, again they worked very hard touring their new sound and even opened for Jack White’s first solo shows in Paris and London to celebrate it but after 9 months of living and breathing Blood Speaks Jessica and Katherine took some time to reflect, they regrouped and started work on their 3rd album, the aptly entitled “Smoke Fairies”. The album was recorded in Kent with new producer Kris Harris and finished under their own steam over the summer of 2013 and was then licensed to new partners in crime Full Time Hobby and will be released on April 14th.
